Digital X-Rays / 3D Imaging

Digital X-Rays in Middlebury, CT

Digital X-Rays | Watertown Dentist
Dr. Smith and Dr. Mandava choose carefully which radiographs are taken when. There are many guidelines that we follow. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and health of bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.

Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Dr. Smith and Dr. Mandava utilize digital imaging technologies within the office. With digital imaging, radiation exposure time is about 80 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Digital imaging can also help us retrieve valuable diagnostic information. We may be able to see cavities better.

The advantages of digital imaging software enables us to not only store patient images, but also enables us to quickly transfer them to appropriate specialists or insurance companies.

LAVA™ ORAL SCANNER in Middlebury, CT

Always on the forefront of the latest technology in dentistry, Dr. Smith is the first dentist in Connecticut to use the LAVA™ Chairside Oral Scanner. The scanner eliminates traditional impressions for crowns, meaning the need for plastic or metal trays filled with a jelly like material placed in your mouth. The traditional method of taking impressions can be unpleasant for some patients as they have to tolerate several minutes with a mouthful of cold, poor tasting or goopy impression material, which can cause gagging and may also result in having to re-take the impression if the first one is unusable.

Dr. Smith and Dr. Mandava continuously strive to make his patients more comfortable and provide them with the best experience possible. In utilizing this impression-less technique, our patients are more relaxed and receive instant feedback as the digital impression system enables
Dr. Smith the motion capture of real-time 3D images resulting in accurate and precise impressions.

Implementing state-of-the-art-technology, such as the LAVA™ scanner, combined with Dr. Smith’s skills and innovative approach to each of his patient’s needs will give you piece-of-mind for a healthy, long lasting and beautiful smile. You deserve it!

Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable. We strive to make any restoration look and feel like your natural teeth. A crown is a tooth shaped cover for a severely weakened or damaged tooth, when a filling is no longer possible. It acts like a “helmet” to protect the tooth. It is used for teeth that had root canal treatment to prevent breakage, as well as for cosmetic purposes to cover misshapen or badly discolored teeth.

Digital Camera

Digital Camera | Middlebury Dentist
Many patients, especially younger patients, are very familiar with the latest technology and are more comfortable with our high-tech practice. Computers and TV screens are their primary method of information processing.

Dr. Smith and Dr. Mandava utilize digital camera technology which helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. A digital camera allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth, and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations. This can mean faster diagnosis with less chair-time for you!

Digital cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of treatments. These images can be printed out for you, other specialists or your insurance company.
